Counselling is like a journey, and I am simply a fellow traveller - I will walk beside you for a time, giving you genuine acceptance, respect, and support. I believe you will naturally grow in positive ways when you are affirmed and supported.
In counselling, you will be invited to explore your situation in a way that reveals your core values and innate strengths, and ultimately what is truly meaningful to you in life. We will work collaboratively, and tailor the process of counselling to your particular needs and goals, and together we will find ways to bring healing and transformation to your life.

All over the world people experience suffering. How this looks and feels can be different person to person. You may have experienced a traumatic event that is remembered, causing distress and compromising your functioning. Or the memory of such an event may be long lost in your past. Often current distress relates to ways of coping that no longer function. Very often the face of unrecognized trauma is anxiety and depression. The good news is that it is not necessary to know of and recount specific events to recover from trauma. The methods I use are always body-mind focused toward present experience and successful negotiation of what is no longer working within the conditions of your life.
I employ a combination of techniques from a variety of psychotherapies. When working with adults or older teens, I often draw from techniques that focus on understanding emotions, relationships, and body awareness. This includes methods like Emotion-Focused Therapy and mindfulness practices, as well as creative approaches like Art Therapy and movement-based techniques. For children and younger teens, I use playful and creative methods such as Sand Play and Art Therapy to help them express themselves in a way that feels natural and safe. Over the years, I’ve worked with clients of all ages, from as young as three years old to older adults, adapting my approach to suit each stage of life.
I have extensive experience working with many expressions of trauma history including the interpersonal and complex trauma of childhood sexual abuse. I also bring experience in healthcare adverse event investigation, which helps me understand situations within the context of complex systems and how different factors interact. This background promotes a broad and deep approach to understanding the circumstances that can lead to adversity or well-being, suffering or creativity.

We’ll begin our counselling journey by building a trusting and safe relationship where I’ll accompany you every step of the way towards healing and achieving your goals and hopes. My goal is for you to feel heard, seen, understood and accepted. While you lead the way at your own pace and discover your needs, I’ll provide guidance and support.
In my work with individuals, I most often use the therapeutic method, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). This approach helps to change negative thought patterns and behaviours, with a focus on addressing and healing from past difficult experiences or trauma. This approach aims to understand how the past events affect thoughts, feelings, and behaviours today, and helps develop coping strategies to manage trauma-related symptoms like anxiety or stress.
When I work with couples, I use the Gottman Method to guide you through relationship challenges. I will help you to uncover the points of disconnection, to see the bids for closeness that your partner makes, and to rediscover connection.
I provide counselling to a diverse range of clients, supporting each person in finding clarity, growth and healing.

In our work together, we’ll explore and process these layers while highlighting and building on your unique strengths. My mission is to guide people in honouring their stories and reclaiming their connections to live more whole and meaningful lives.

My priority is to create a safe, non-judgemental space where you feel comfortable exploring the unknown within a supportive relationship. Whether you are on a healing journey, building your tools and coping skills, exploring emotions, or processing trauma, we can work together using a variety of counselling techniques.
As a BC Registered Clinical Counsellor, I use an approach that validates your life experiences, honours you as the expert of your own history, and focuses on your strengths. I centre the counselling process around building a strong, supportive relationship, and I integrate mindfulness techniques to help you navigate challenges. Together, we will explore what type of support best meets your needs and goals to guide our work. Our sessions might include exploring new ways to understand and relate to the past, examining life patterns, uncovering new perspectives and facets of yourself, moving toward daily nourishment, or strengthening your ability to access inner resources.
In addition to more traditional talk therapy, you will also have the option to try Expressive Arts Therapy if it is something you are interested in. Expressive Arts Therapy explores content coming up in sessions by inviting the imagination and the senses into the process. Working in this experiential way can also provide a safe container for accessing difficult emotions or past traumas. No arts experience is required, and simplicity is celebrated in this way of working.
