At the core of my approach to counselling is the belief that every human being is unique and inherently valuable.

Counselling is like a journey and I am simply a fellow traveller - I will walk beside you for a time, giving you genuine acceptance, respect, and support. I believe you will naturally grow in positive ways when you are affirmed and supported.

In counselling, you will be invited to explore your situation in a way that reveals your core values and innate strengths, and ultimately what is truly meaningful to you in life. We will work collaboratively, and tailor the process of counselling to your particular needs and goals, and together we will find ways to bring healing and transformation to your life.

I have been practicing as a counsellor for over 25 years. I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia, and I am registered with the B.C. I have expertise in recovery from abusive and traumatic experiences, with a particular specialization in healing from childhood abuse. To help with this work, I have advanced training in EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).

I believe we are all seeking connection, a sense of belonging, and to be heard and seen for who we truly are.

Counselling is taking the time to honour your needs for wherever you are in your life, through challenges, change, and past experiences – and I am here to support you in the process. It can be hard, uncomfortable work, but I believe showing up for yourself in counselling is admirable for your own mental wellness.

I work from an intersectional feminist lens, with humanistic and person-centered theory at the core of my therapeutic practice. We will explore whatever brings you in to counselling with gentle curiosity, and I will highlight information from a non-judgemental and empathetic perspective. A safe and trusting therapeutic relationship is always at the foundation for effective practice. This work is sacred to me because I acknowledge the immense vulnerability of voicing your private life to a stranger. I will acknowledge your feelings as valid and hold space for you to heal. I would be honoured to work with you and hear your story.

I graduated with a Master of Counselling from City University, and I am registered with the B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors. I was the first intern to work with Tapestry Counselling Centre and I am grateful to continue my work here as an RCC. I also have intern experience with a non-profit where I provided short-term counselling to adults. Before my Master’s, I worked on the frontline of a post-secondary counselling office, and it is here I discovered my goal to become a counsellor myself.

I work with adult individuals from all walks of life. My areas of practice are: • Major life transitions • Relationships • Abuse • Trauma • Depression and Anxiety • Grief and Loss • Self-esteem, self-worth, identity

Schedule: • Tuesday 2:00-8:30 in-person or online • Thursday 5:15-8:45 in-person or online • Saturday 9:30-3:30 in-person or online

I describe counselling like driving on a highway. You are in the driver’s seat and I’m sitting next to you in the passenger seat. You decide on a goal and this determines how we proceed each session. You can stop, pull over and change direction should you choose to. I empower you, draw on your strengths and support you on your journey.

In counselling, I encourage you to share your experience with me, so together we can explore coping strategies. I will remain curious and encourage you to be the same. I will identify common behaviours and thinking patterns and share these with you. My goal is to support you achieve your goals and shift any roadblocks that may be preventing you from this.

By honouring ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, we can create meaningful connections with ourselves and others.

Having ancestry from the Mi’kmaq people of Newfoundland and the English people of Bath, I use the medicine wheel as a foundation for both my personal and professional life. As a professional art therapist, I strongly believe that making art can be a practice that supports physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. When we make art, we can create an experience where change and growth is possible. My goal is to create a space where people are able to nourish their relationship with art, and through this, nourish other relationships in their lives including families, friends and communities.

I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and Art Therapy from Adler University in Vancouver. I’m registered with the B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors and I’m a professional member of the B.C. Art Therapy Association. I’ve received additional training in focusing-oriented therapy, a body-centered modality where people are invited to notice what they are sensing in their bodies rather than what they are thinking in their brains.

I work with children and youth, families, and adults living with anxiety, depression, trauma symptoms, grief and loss, addictions, developmental disabilities and issues related to sexual identity, life transitions and self-image. I enjoy providing both individualized support and specialized groups/workshops. As a First Nations practitioner, I’m especially passionate about working with Indigenous people. I have had the honour to work with various Indigenous communities in the Lower Mainland such as the Kwantlen Nation.

I believe therapy can give people the opportunity to discover, reclaim and cultivate their own unique strengths and resources, equipping them to navigate through life’s challenges.

My priority is to create a safe, non-judgmental space, where you feel you can explore the unknown within the comfort of a supportive relationship. Whether you are on a healing journey, building your tools and coping skills, exploring emotions, or processing trauma, we can work together using a variety of counselling modalities.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (BCACC), and I work within an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed lens. My orientation is Strengths-Based, Person-Centred and Mindfulness-Based and I consider a strong therapeutic relationship as the foundation for the counselling process. Together we will explore what type of support best meets your needs and goals and let that guide our process. Our work together might include exploring new ways to relate to and understand the past, examining patterns in your life, uncovering new perspectives and facets of yourself, moving towards nourishment in daily life or strengthening your ability to access inner resources.

In addition to more traditional talk therapy, you will also have the option to try Expressive Arts Therapy if it is something you are interested in. Expressive Arts Therapy explores content coming up in sessions by inviting the imagination and the senses into the process. Working in this experiential way can also provide a safe container for accessing difficult emotions or past traumas. No arts experience is required and simplicity is celebrated in this way of working.

I have been practicing for the last 9 years in a variety of settings including a not-for-profit agency in a child and youth sexual abuse program, an adult counselling program, in a First Nations community, and at elementary schools. I hold a Master’s degree in Expressive Arts Therapy and Psychology from the European Graduate School and a B.A. in Psychology.

I love to help people create solutions and changes that they never imagined could be possible.

As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, it is my privilege to hear the stories of people from many backgrounds, who have all developed strengths and coping techniques of many kinds. When they get stuck or overwhelmed, I know that they will find their way out eventually, but I help them to get there sooner. My job is to listen to your story in a way that lets you understand it better, and to offer you tools and encouragement to solve your current problems.

I help those who are experiencing anxiety and depression, or a crisis in their life, or those who have a particularly difficult path through life because of trauma, difficult relationships, loss, or disability.

I work with all ages of people, including providing play therapy for children. I also have a special interest in supporting families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Since completing my Masters of Counselling Psychology, I have taken extra training in working with families affected by domestic abuse, in trauma care, and in parenting education.
